After Art-school I didn't become an artist automatically. Although I made films, photos, pictures, designs and paintings all the time
while teaching art for a living - it was not until 1996 when becoming a member of Swedish Artist Association, KRO, I felt it was right to
call myself an artist. In other words, my art has taken years to mature.
”Art is a dirty job, but somebody's got to do it.” I read somewhere. Perhaps. If you consider what it involves: projects, competitions, exhibitions, assignment, tidy up messy studios and working spaces, besides packing and all the transportations. Yes, it is hard work. But also a fantastic part of your life.
I love art, art that speaks to me. Because, as Albert Camus puts it and my daughter reminded me: " To be creative is to live twice! "
-Are you a real artist? my grandchildren asked when we were painting together. We meet just a few times a year.
-Sure. Art is what I do, I said.
-Are your paintings in a museum now? they wanted to know.
-No, not yet, that art is mostly by dead artists... Still. It made me think. Of course, everyone wants to be remembered somehow.
If not dead represented in a museum, people like to show up in media. Internet. On the web. That is where people meet today.
And that is why I am here.
