Watercolours

My watercolours
are at their best
if I manage to catch the light and athmosphere
in that easy way that is so atractive

To manage the technique of watercolour is harder than you think. Actually, behind every masterpeace there are countlessv of failures.

For many years I had summer classes in painting in Dordogne France and in wintertime in my studio in Stockholm. To meet these entusiastic participants  was a challenge but also and  mostly very pleasant.

Live and work in Stockholm

I didn't become an artist automaticly. It took me until 1996 when I became a member of KRO (Konstnärernas Riksförbund) and FSK ( Föreningen Svenska Konstnärinnor)  that I proudly called myself an artist. As Albert Camus said:

"To be creative is to live twice! "

ABOUT MY ART

A DEPENDENCY

It is difficult to describe one's art in words. In short, it is figurative and inspired by colors, impressions and visions. I feel for both my done and unfinished works as if they were my children. Once, when I had neglected my paintings for a long time, I had nightmares about them.

FRIENDS FOR LIFE

In my dreams they appeared as deformed little babies almost dying of starvation while I, stressed and worried, tried to help them in every way possible. Small or large, sold or gone, wherever they are liked or not, I care about my works as if they were friends for life.

WHAT DOES THE WORLD SAY

Are you a real artist? asked my grandchildren once when we were painting together.
-Sure. Art is what I do and live for in Sweden
-Then your paintings must be in a museum now?
-No, that art is mostly done by dead artists I guess. My art is done in my studio and sometimes exposed in galleries and occationally on walls.

IS IT IMPORTANT

Anyway, that conversation got me thinking. Because of course we all want to be seen and remembered in some way. Important or not. If not exactly represented in a museum, then at least noticed in media and on-line. That's why  we are seeing each other here...
